Who Is Jared Leto | TINA JOHANSSON/FOR SUN-TIMES MEDIA storyidforme: 66213767 Article Extras Updated: May 11, 2014 5:49PM For at least a half-dozen years, the Gurnee Womens Business Association has been collecting clothes for needy women of Staben House in Waukegan and the Zacharias Center in Gurnee. On Saturday, the GWBA did it again. Bags, boxes and racks of items ranging from career clothing to new sweat pants clogged the entrance of Advanced Laser Clinic & Medspa, which is right next to Kims Salon & Spa in the mall at Route 21 and Washington in Gurnee. The businesses were drop-off points, and both were open for business during the event. There was more business out front of those places, as many of the 35 members of the GWBA set up shop of their own with the addition of a vendor fair. With each donation given, donors received a tax receipt, a ticket to be entered into drawings for gifts, and 10-percent off at each vendor booth. Food and beverages were served. Club members contributed with some goodies, while nearby Momcorn restaurant also generously donated. Ruth Shirley, vice president of the GWBA and a Tupperware manager, had a table of the iconic and colorful items on display. People started dropping things off two weeks ago, but the bulk of it was today, said Shirley.
